Marius Frank

Achievement for All

In an education career that has encompassed roles as diverse as Head of Science, Head of Year and Director of Music, Marius has spent much of his time “closing the gap” in very challenging urban contexts. In January 2000, he was appointed Headteacher of Bedminster Down Secondary School in Bristol. Despite serving a community in the bottom 1% nationally in terms of education deprivation, headline performance tripled during his decade in charge.

Marius became CEO of ASDAN Education in 2010, one of the larger educational charities and awarding organisations in the UK, specialising in the development and accreditation of skills for learning, skills for employment and skills for life, before joining Achievement for All – a national charity committed to raising the aspirations, access and achievement of the most disadvantaged children and young people in society. He is currently charged with creating professional development programmes within “The Bubble”, Achievement for All’s online community of practice that supports CPD in all education settings (from early years to colleges), professional networks such as registered childminders, and, most recently, thousands of professionals who work within the Youth Justice System.

Marius has also enjoyed a parallel career as a professional musician and was, without doubt, the top funky bass-playing Secondary Headteacher in the UK. Together with his partner, Cindy Stratton, they have enjoyed a long professional career, with Radio 1 sessions, major festival appearances and a series of album releases spanning two decades. They now specialise in running choral events and singing workshops.
